Spare parts for the Puch Maxi are already widely available – yet some parts are either no longer available at all, or only in poor quality. What began as a replacement clutch shoe for the discontinued Puch E50 Surflex clutch has since grown into a constantly expanding range. Quality always comes first.

The more power an E50 engine makes, the harder the forces on the clutch climb – not linearly, but disproportionately. Our parts are engineered exactly for that.
Lighter clutch arms generate noticeably lower centrifugal force at the same RPM – letting the engine accelerate more freely.
Large Aramid friction surfaces let the clutch slip evenly up to the engagement point, then bite cleanly.
Our test bikes regularly run well past double the stock RPM – backed by the ASP reinforcement strut.

A few years ago, Surflex discontinued production of centrifugal clutches for Puch Maxi E50 engines. Countless Maxi riders were left with worn-out clutches, as aftermarket quality left a lot to be desired. The search for a better replacement shoe became A.S.P. – All Supreme Parts.

The most important answers about centrifugal clutches, gear sets and adjustment – summarized.
As RPM rises, centrifugal force pushes the clutch arms outward, pressing them against the clutch bell, which is connected to the rear wheel via the primary gears and chain. Springs counteract that centrifugal force so the clutch engages smoothly instead of abruptly – full engine power only reaches the rear wheel once RPM is high enough.
The forces on the clutch don't rise linearly with RPM. Just 10 % more RPM can mean 20 % more force on the clutch shoes. On heavily tuned engines running well past 10,000 RPM, that's enough to bend or break stock parts – lighter ASP shoes noticeably reduce these forces.
Straight-cut sets produce zero side load, making them the first choice for sprint and race use at very high power. Helical sets run much quieter and, at over 90 % efficiency, transmit almost as much power – ideal for regular daily use with some extra power in reserve.
The adjustment screw on each spring lets you delay the engagement point – screwing it in further delays engagement to a higher RPM. If the screw sits more than about 2 mm below the surface and you still haven't reached the RPM you want, it's time for stronger springs. A later engagement point suits engines that don't make much power at low RPM.
